The Rating Machine, Year by Year

347 events. 1957 to 2026. The record runs from a nonprofit's 2016 incorporation papers in Utah, through a book-rating website's own company filing in May 2025, a news report that August tracing 24 of 25 of one district's book challenges to a single submitter with the site's reports attached, and a public spreadsheet by spring 2026 of 81 titles to challenge next, each keyed to those reports, to a July 2026 sales pitch that puts the same ratings inside the library's own catalog, priced by the size of the library. Every dated record we hold, with its evidence grade attached.

Three rules for reading this

Time is not causation. Events near each other here are near each other in time, nothing more. Where the record establishes an actual connection it says so, and it does that 29 times out of 347. Everywhere else the gap is the finding.

Headlines are cut, not written. Each headline is the first complete clause of the record. 282 of 347 end at a real boundary; the rest are cut mid-clause and marked with an ellipsis. No summary has been authored for any of them, and opening an event shows the record in full.
